Red Cliff Ranch Celebration of the Arts Event

I am happy to be one of the invited artists to display art at the upcoming Red Cliff Ranch Celebration of the Arts in Heber! It’s free and family friendly, with art for sale, live music, good food, pony rides and more! RSVP here and find out more details.

If you are in the Salt Lake or Park City area please join me at this fun event!
Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and
Sunday, July 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Art sales will benefit the artists and the Kimball Art Center in Park City. Here is one of my acrylic paintings hot off the easel that I’ll have at the event. It’s called “Guitar, Grapes & Goat.”

Paintings for Art Access 300 Plates Event

The 300 Plates Fundraiser & Exhibition at Art Access happens Thursday, May 19 from 6 – 9 p.m. This is a wonderful and eclectic yearly exhibition where invited artists are each given the same size “plates” (panels with two holes ready to put art on).

Here’s a photo of my two paintings from a few weeks ago ready for varnishing that will be for sale in the exhibit.

You can preview the art:
Mon. May 16 – Thur. May 19
9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

My Art Juried In

I am very pleased that my painting “Blue Torso with Bird and Trees” was selected to be in the Bountiful Davis Art Center Statewide Competition. It is the first time I have entered this juried show so it was nice to get a painting accepted. I look forward to seeing the other art in the exhibit. The exhibit opens May 13th and runs through June 17th, 2016.

Animal, Vegetable, and Mineral.

I hope you have had a lovely Summer…and remember it’s not officially over until September 23rd! Aside from the paintings I am working on and some pleasurable design projects, I wanted to share some of the diverse elements of my creative life recently.

VEGETABLE

I’m honored that Art Access asked to use my “Harvest” art for the cover of their “Art2go” event invitation this year. It is their 3rd Annual Fall Invitational, where you can buy art and take it with you on the spot rather than waiting until the end of the exhibition. I’m happy to have art available at the gallery. The invitation-only preview party will be tomorrow, Thursday, September 17th, then it’s open for everyone on Friday’s gallery stroll the next night and will continue through October 9.

MINERAL

Did you know I make jewelry from ethnic beads, colorful gemstones and Tibetan pendants? Many years ago my hobby turned into a side business. The necklaces, bracelets and earrings I make are available at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts Store at the University of Utah.

Paintings at 15th Street Gallery

I am happy to have three new acrylic paintings in the 15th Street Gallery group show which opens this Friday, June 19th 4 pm – 9 pm.
Please join me for this entertaining and unique Gallery Stroll evening — some plein air artists will be painting on-site in front of the gallery.

Exploring RED Exhibition

I am happy to have these two paintings included in a group theme invitational exhibit at Horne Fine Art from February 3 – March 14, 2015. There are works from over 18 artists in styles from traditional to abstract in the show. It was a pleasure to meet new artists and see some familiar friends at the opening night event. All of the artists wore red that night so it was shades of crimson all around!

Pet Portrait Commissions for Wasatch Advisors

Recently, I was commissioned to paint some pet portraits and wanted to share them with you. I really enjoyed painting these beloved cats and dogs and I would love to do more!

These paintings were part of a cool project for Wasatch Advisors’ corporate office called the “People’s Pet Project” and I was one of nine artists commissioned. I painted three of the 23 pet portraits. A charitable contribution was presented to Best Friends Animal Society by the good people of Wasatch Advisors. Now these wonderful paintings are part of the Wasatch Advisors’ corporate art collection where they can be enjoyed every day.

Spring Art Convergence

Gouache painting Two Birds With Flora by Traci O'Very Covey

“Two Birds With Flora,” gouache painting

This past spring was an abundant time for me with the convergence of three group exhibits: UMOCA (Utah Museum of Contemporary Art) Annual Exhibition & Gala event, Art Access “300 Plates” Fundraiser & Exhibition, along with a major showing at the Loge Gallery called “Visions of Nature” on display during the month of May. “Visions of Nature” featured 18 of my paintings along with other art inspired by nature from Connie Borup, Laura Boardman, and Mikel Covey.

After such intense art making, joyful times at art events, and all the other work that goes into exhibitions, I am back in the studio reorganized with creative juices flowing and new art in the works. Thank you to everyone who went to these fleeting exhibits and purchased art to enjoy living with for many years to come.

Art & Soup Event

Traci O'Very Covey Art & Soup 2014 booth

Since food and art are two of my favorite things I was pleased to be one of the 40 artists invited to participate in the annual “Art & Soup” event. There were 24 restaurants who had delicious soups and desserts for tasting while viewing wonderful art. It is a worthy cause and a lively event where I enjoyed sharing my art, meeting new friends and garnering new art collectors. The event raised $101,077 this year—a near record-breaking year—for the CNS Charitable Care Program which donates essential health care and hospice services to thousands of low-income, uninsured and underinsured Utahns annually. It was a pleasure to be a part of it!
